Why do you offer infant development/feeding/lactation, pelvic floor therapy, and adult neurological treatments?
I started my own business to follow my passions. While these three areas might seem a little random, they are what I am good at and what I love! They are what drives me and lights a fire in my soul. With all of these areas, there are tangible interventions I can do to give people immediate results. I love being able to help improve people's quality of life. I have worked with infants for over 15 years both in the clinic, school, and at a level 1 trauma center ICU and rehab unit.
I have also worked on specialty units at the level 1 trauma center for spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injuries, strokes, and other neurological conditions. Helping to give people their freedom, leisure, and independence back is immensely important to me regardless of the person's diagnosis.

How do I know we are a good fit?
I want you/your little one to get the most out of therapy! It's very important to me that you feel comfortable working together. This is why I offer a free 15 min discovery phone call. This is your time to interview me and make sure our values align. To book a discovery call, just send me an email at Jess@HaliaOT.com, a text/call at (707) 484-6460, or an instagram direct message.

Can my baby/my partner attend visits with me?
Absolutely! I know just how hard it can be to fit time for yourself into an already busy day. If you are being seen for pelvic floor therapy, I am more than happy to hold/entertain baby while we work on you! If we are seeing baby, I encourage as many caregivers as you'd like to be present for our sessions. It's the main reason I offer night and weekend sessions! I want you to have the best outcomes and this involves all parties!

Do you do home visits or office visits?
Both! Home visits are my preferred treatment setting because I can thoroughly evaluate your home set-up and the devices/tools that you already have access to. Whether its for pelvic floor or infant development, I prefer to use what you already have opposed to making you purchase items. By being in your home, I can give you ideas on how to structure your environment or teach you novel ways to use items you already have to give them a therapeutic benefit. I do however have a clinic space, if you prefer that route.

I thought you had to be a Physical Therapist to be a pelvic floor therapist?
This is a common misconception! Occupational Therapists are similar to physical therapists but they specialize in rehabilitating "occupations." In addition to receiving schooling on rehabilitating physical attributes (strength, range of motion, endurance) OTs are also trained in cognitive rehabilitation and mental health practices. An "occupation" is any task that you need or want to do throughout your day. In hospital settings OTs are seen as the experts in toileting, sex, feeding, bathing, financial management, chore completion, etc. Toileting and sex are a huge part of the education we receive in school making pelvic health the perfect setting for us!

What do you mean by "lactation informed therapist?"
I am an international board certified lactation consultant but I am also an Occupational Therapist. To become an Occupational Therapist I went through 6 years of higher level education graduating from the number one OT school in the country - University of Southern CA. As an OT I have a unique lens that assesses body mechanics, strength, endurance, mental health, and sensory processing with human development. I incorporate this knowledge to every lactation session I engage in - giving you a well-rounded holistic therapy session. Feeding is a whole body activity that requires support from every body system.

Do I need a referral?
8
No... but also maybe Yes. If you would like to submit for insurance reimbursement most insurance companies will require a referral. Please have your doctor fax or email the referral to me. If you are paying out-of-pocket, you do not need a referral. I am more than happy to guide you on how to request a referral without needing to go into your provider. We can discuss this more in our discovery call!
Do you offer sliding scale?
9
Yes, I offer a limited number of sliding scale visits per month for clients who meet income requirements. At this time I am only able to offer these services for infant services.
Please contact for more details.

What are your hours?
As a family forward business we do not have typical clinic hours. We do our best to meet families where they are with what they need. We find that we can get better results in therapy when all caregivers can be involved in care. To accommodate this, we offer therapy appointments 7 days a week from the hours of 7:30am - 9:00pm. Email to book and let us know what your preferred time is!
