MORE ABOUT ME

I obtained my undergraduate degree from Washington State University (Go Cougs!) in Kinesiology. I went on to obtain my master's degree in Occupational Therapy from University of Southern California. Since then, I have been extremely fortunate to work with colleagues and mentors that are experts in both fields.

I spent 10 years working in a feeding clinic before becoming an Occupational therapist and then spent 5 years working in the pediatric ICU at a level 1 trauma center treating very complex feeding and developmental concerns.

I got started in pelvic floor therapy in 2014 and gradually incorporated it into my sessions with both children and adults. Since then, I have narrowed my focus and continuing education on the preconception-4th trimester period with birthing parents. I also treat people with life-changing injuries experiencing difficulties with return to intimacy ( stroke, spinal cord injury, amputation, colostomy management, etc).

I became a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist to better help the families I treat by addressing lactation related concerns as well.

I created Hali'a Therapeutics after giving birth to my daughter and experiencing the struggle of finding specialized providers in the Eugene area. My daughter had a posterior tongue tie, significant body tension, and suffered from constipation, eczema, and severe reflux. It took me until she was 4 months old to understand and manage her reflux. I worked with an incredible IBCLC who helped inspire me to look further into the field of infant oral motor skills. During this process I began taking coursework by leaders  in the field on infant allergies, oral motor skills, and myofascial therapy. Shortly after I made adjustments I saw an immediate change in my daughter's wellbeing. She became more regular and her reflux disappeared overnight. She was back to her spunky self. We still had work to do but I felt like I could finally breathe.

My vision for this company is to enable mothers and babies to heal concurrently. I want to give Eugene families access to a provider that is not going to offer cover-ups to issues, but will truly help you get to root causes in order to heal from the inside out. I want mothers to be able to prioritize their own health while knowing that they are doing what's best for their babies as well.
